The Lady Knights asserted mastery against the Lady Generals in a two-set stunner, 21-10, 21-9, to keep their three-peat hopes alive in the NCAA Season 100 beach volleyball tournament on Saturday at Subic, Zambales.
Both CSJL and EAC exchanged powerful attacks in the opening set until Letran’s Gia Maquilang dropped the ball that made the latter trail by six points, 11-5. The Lady Knights maximized the opponent’s errors on top of producing hits and four service aces, heading into the second set with the advantage.
The outcome of the second set was nearly identical to the first, as the Muralla-based duo simultaneously hit stronger attacks after overcoming their shaky star. An ace and a one-two hit from Letran’s sophomore denied EAC women’s team a chance for their first ever championship plum.
The Letran Lady Knights finished with a 7-2 card at the end of the elimination round, with losses against San Beda and Perpetual, placing second, just behind the top-seeded Lyceum who only got downed once in the tourney under the hands of Letran.
The sizzling Intramuros rivalry is scheduled this Sunday afternoon at 4:00 pm in the same venue.
