Lucena-Calamba train trips resume under PNR operations

The Philippine National Railways (PNR) officially restarted train service between Lucena and Calamba on Monday, October 21.

The train service on the resumed line is planned to depart Lucena Station at 5 a.m., and Calamba-Lucena at 6:30 p.m.

The trains will stop at the following stations for commuters to board and exit: San Pablo, Calamba, Sariaya, Lutucan, Candelaria, Tiaong (Lalig), IRRI, College, Los Baños, Masili, and Pansol.

Last Oct. 7, 2022, PNR opened a new route from Calamba City in Laguna to Lucena City in Quezon. 

The PNR management said that the train service can accommodate commuters from Calamba, San Pablo, and Lucena. They also stated that the line will allow for faster commute times. 

“Aside from the comfort that it will offer to commuters, the reopened line is expected to have a shorter travel time from Lucena, San Pablo, and Calamba, and vice versa,” added PNR.

According to the PNR, the trip from Lucena to Calamba will take roughly two hours and 33 minutes.

The minimum fare for a trip from Lucena to San Pablo is Php 15, while the fare from Lucena to Calamba is Php 20.
