The Letran Knights were vanquished by the UP Fighting Maroons in a one-sided contest, 79-112, in the Pinoyliga Collegiate Cup Season 3 held at Enderun Colleges earlier today.

Edsel Galoy led the Letran Knights with 14 points, two steals, and an assist, followed by Jovel Baliling and Charles Dimaano who contributed 12 and 11, respectively.

Baliling started off with a three-point shot, but UP’s Kingsley Udodo quickly answered with a two-point basket.

Both squads went on a back-and-forth affair as a Francis Nnoruka layup gave the Fighting Maroons a four-point cushion at the half, 49-53.

The Knights struggled to keep up with their counterparts as UP began to pick up the pace with constant production from Sean Alter and Nnoruka.

Galoy wanted to turn the tide for the Letran Knights with a shot from downtown, along with Dimaano’s effort to take control of the game by going coast to coast.

However, the Knights’ efforts were still not enough as they had no answer for the constant offensive pressure presented by the Fighting Maroons.

UP dominated in the fourth quarter, weakening Letran on the offensive and defensive ends of the court, wherein former Letran Squires standout, Andy Gemao, poured it on for his new team.

Gemao was honored with the player of the game after scattering 18 points, five steals, and two assists, followed by Remogat’s 19 and 18 apiece for Udodo and Alter.

The Letran Knights will face the OLFU Phoenix tomorrow at 4:00 P.M. at the University of Perpetual Help Gym 2.
