In the competitive nature of e-sports, success and defeat come along as part of the game.

Letran CyberKnights was wiped out by the Lyceum of the Philippines-Manila and the Pamantasang Lungsod ng Muntinlupa in the MSL Collegiate Cup-Metro Manila last Saturday.

LPU proved to be an uphill battle from the start, a seasoned adversary and their finals opponent in the second iteration of the Collegiate Center for E-sports tournament.

Despite a valiant fight, the CyberKnights found themselves outplayed at every turn, and each round arrayed a crushing realization in the midst of the match. They were forced to concede defeat, a bitter pill to swallow which concluded the match with a score of 5-19.

After the match, Jade “ImbaDeeJade” Mercado expressed that “Nakaka frustrate siya since yung mga practice namin is hindi namin na execute nang maayos and sobrang kalat ng laro namin now.”

Joshua “Shüa” Cruz mentioned that “Para saken masasabi ko ay okay lang matalo kasi part din naman ng laro yun either you win or you learn pero in this case maybe we needed to learn  more kung bakit natalo and whatsoever so I guess there is nothing to do but move on and be ready for the next tournament and be better”.

As per the 2nd match, it took place under the losers bracket to which Cyberknights faced off players from the PLM Muntinlupa.

Still in low spirits due to their earlier loss, CyberKnights consumed by doubt as they pushed on with their match. Throughout the game, PLMun forced their way into the ranks of the Cyberknights, causing great disruption in their play, thus ending another match on a big loss of 10-25.

George Brent “Georgiez” Imbang stated that “Naging careless kami sa opening ng mga games/early game, which led to early snowball ng kalaban and ‘di na kami nakarecover doon. Madami ding naging factor sa pagkatalo namin ngayon like miscommunications, poor rotation, lack of synchronization, siguro dahil medyo bago pa yung team and kulang pa talaga kami sa familiarity sa isa’t isa”.

After the defeat, players of Letran Cyberknights are determined to seek answers to their own introspections and speculations.

Even through a major loss of an old foe or a new one, tasting a bitter defeat, the Cyberknights will still manage to stick together with their unwavering camaraderie and solidarity.

Shüa and ImbaDeeJade shared the same sentiments that they will continue to fight in their future matches and tournaments, “The more we join such events the more we learn and the more we can get experience and eventually maging improved ang team.”

Stay tuned with the Letran CyberKnights' Mobile Legends team on their future matches in the field of e-sports.
