In a league filled with stars and veterans, a new hero of the game reigned anew.

Vince Virrey Himzon was crowned the Most Valuable Player of Spikers’ Turf, being the first middle blocker to do so, at FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City on Friday.

Despite sustaining various injuries that saw the 6-foot-1 middle blocker miss time, Himzon paced his team to a 4-1 record in the Group Stages tallying 65 points off of 54 attacks, 7 blocks, and four aces.

NCAA Season 98’s Rookie of the Year continued his dominance in the semi-final round as he carved out 61 points with a 56.47-percent success rate on attacks where he ranked first.

Saint and Lattes’ Letran found itself finishing fourth after it clashed and lost in a five-set slugfest against Maruichi Hyogo, 25-20, 16-25, 21-25, 25-22, 11-15 earlier in the same day.

Himzon’s partner in crime, Bem-Bem Bautista was also given their flowers after they cashed in 58 markers being named the Best Outside Spiker award along with Cignal HD Spiker’s Joshua Umandal.

Letran's top gun will prove to be a pivotal piece in the team's NCAA Season 99 Men's Volleyball campaign in the hunt for a 14th Championship title that can place them first all-time in the competition.
