The COVID-19 virus test results for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. were confirmed positive by Malacañang on Monday, December 4.

The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) reports that Marcos will be placed under medical advice and be kept under observation for five days.

“The President is still able to do his duties and would continue holding his scheduled teleconference conversations,” PCO stated in their press release.

President Marcos reminded everyone to exercise caution and protect their health over the holidays by being vaccinated and wearing masks voluntarily when they go into crowded areas.

Marcos first got sick in 2020 and experienced a mild virus in 2022, before testing positive for COVID-19 today.

Increased COVID-19 PH cases

1,340 COVID-19 infections between November 28 to December 1 were recorded as reported by the Department of Health (DOH) on Monday. This number was somewhat higher than the 1,218 cases reported the week earlier.

As of November 2023, the World Health Organization (WHO) stated that there were 6,985,278 recorded deaths out of 772,052,752 verified cases due to the still infectious disease.

Meanwhile, 13,595,583,125 vaccine doses have been given out as of November 22, 2023.
