A barrage of cheer by the students accompanied by loud drums blaring a familiar beat
echoed inside the gym, as Letranites once again had a glimpse into the exhilarating
atmosphere of the annual Letramurals.

With the theme: “Letramurals 2018: Phase 9 Blazing Power and Glory”, this year’s
intramurals, held earlier today at the Blessed Antonio Varona, O.P. Gymnasium, was
designed to promote team spirit as the ninth Letramurals begin.

Students from the College of Business Administration and Accountancy, College of
Engineering and Information Technology, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, College of
Education, and Senior High School Department, came to witness the opening of this yearly
festivity.

The rally started with the entrance of teams, led by the Letran Band to hype up the crowd,
followed by an opening remarks from the Office of Student Welfare and Development
directress and over-all chairman of the event Asst. Prof. Catherine D. Sanchez, with a
message which centered on total quality education that the institution provides to its
students.

For Sanchez, the theme was significant to its ninth anniversary, saying: “Letran believes in
giving the students the Letran brand of total quality education, by combining in-classroom
and off-classroom education, that is why as part of this package, we hold our ninth
Letramurals where you get the chance to experience and feel one another.”

“We hope that through this activity, you get to experience greater freedom and express
yourselves in creative ways to be able to develop individual and group values and promote
a culture and camaraderie where competition does not result in division but elevates our
unity,” Sanchez concluded.

The oath taking of sportsmanship was led by Gleo Dominise, the team captain of CEIT’s
baskeball team.

The ten sporting events lined up for the rest of the three-week event are: basketball,
volleyball, badminton, chess, fun games, table tennis, cheerdance, bowling, billiards, and e-
games.

The event ended with the announcement of winners for Mr. and Ms. Letramurals with CLAS
for Ms. Letramurals 2018 and CEIT for Mr. Letramurals 2018.

This year’s Letramurals will run from October 8 to October 26, 2018.
