The Letran Knights snapped their two-game losing skid after handing the Mapua University Cardinals a 21-point beating, 84-63, in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Season 92 men’s basketball tournament on Tuesday, at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

After a 13-4 hot start, the Muralla-based squad never looked back and led by as much as 26 points, 59-33, with 3:57 left in the third canto.

Letran’s main man Bong Quinto displayed his all-around brilliance today; unleashing a triple-double of 12 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists. His running mate JP Calvo took the scoring load for him and finished with a game-high 20 points.

The Knights had an almost complete game today; grabbing 67 rebounds and outscoring the Cardinals in fast break points, 21-4. Letran however, had 18 turnovers while Mapua only threw the ball away ten times.

According to Letran head coach Jeff Napa, the results paid off after the team addressed the mistakes they committed in the last two games

"We corrected our mistakes lang naman sa past two games namin na mabigat,” he said.

“’Yung mga cinorrect namin na mistakes, syempre ‘yung maturity saka decision making, ‘yun ‘yung pinaka-crucial sa amin. So ‘yun ‘yung inaddress namin [and] naging maganda naman yung results,” he added.

After this statement win for the Knights, Napa warns the NCAA’s top two teams to watch out.

"’Di pa ‘rin naman sila nakaka-sigurado na top two na sila e," he stated confidently. "Panindigan nila ngayon ‘yung top two nila. Ganun lang ka-simple. Basta kami papakita namin na mas deserving kami ‘dun sa posisyon na yun,”

Larry Muyang chipped in 15 points and 14 rebounds in Letran’s victory. Christian Fajarito had 10 points and nine rebounds while Jeo Ambohot snatched 13 rebounds to go along with seven points for the Knights who are now 5-3 in the standings.
