Colegio de San Juan de Letran - Manila reached a 31.58 percent passing rate in the May 2018 licensure examinations for certified public accountants (CPA), with 18 passers from a total of 57 examinees.

This was a decrease from last year’s 55.41 percent passing rate, with 41 examinee passers from a total of 74.

The Colegio’s result percentage in the May 2018 licensure exam, however, is higher than the national passing rate of 28.92 percent, or 2,843 passed out of 9,830 examinees as noted by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).

The top performing school was De La Salle University – Manila with a record of 90.11-percent passing rate, a total of 82 passers out of 91 examinees.

Jayson Ong Chan of Saint Paul School of Professional Studies placed first in the CPA licensure exam scoring 92.50 percent.

Letran BS Accountancy Program Coordinator Ian Dancel revealed in an interview with The LANCE, last June, that the status of the Colegio’s passing rate in the CPA licensure exams is necessary to be granted an accreditation from the Philippine Accrediting Associations of Schools, Colleges, and Universities (PAASCU).

“The [Level 1] status was given to us [by PAASCU] because of the increasing passing rate every year,” Dancel said.
