The Altas proved that they are too much for the Knights.

The Letran Lady Knights failed to retaliate after their St. Benilde loss as they succumbed to UPHSD Lady Altas in a 23-25, 21-25, 30-28, 19-25 heartbreaker in the elimination round of NCAA Season 98 Women’s Volleyball earlier today at San Andres Sports Complex in Manila.

Super rookie Judiel Nitura top-scored the Lady Knights with 16 markers backed up by Lea Rizel Tapang who churned out 12 points and Cha Cunada who produced 10. The combined offense delivered by Nitura and Cunada powered the Lady Knights to an early 13-8 advantage but the Lady Altas were able to catch up and hold onto a 15-all deadlock.

The first set efforts of Letran went down the drain as Perpetual grabbed the opening frame, 23-25. Letran continued their sustained energy towards the second frame but they committed 10 errors which gave Perpetual their 2-0 set advantage.

The Intramuros-based squad doubled their efforts in the third set to stay alive in the match as they carved out an extended 32-30 win to extend the match. Errors proved to be the biggest problem for the Lady Knights as they finished the match with 35 errors. With the same fate, the Knights struggled to hack out a victory against the Altas as they carved out a 17-25, 16-25, 19-25 loss.

The Knights tried to make ends meet as they relied on the efforts of Himzon and Caballero but it was hard for them to trail closely to the Altas.

As the league approaches the final matches towards the round eliminations, the Letran volleyball teams will be facing the Lyceum Pirates on Tuesday, March 14, still at the same Manila Venue.
