STUDENTS, EMPLOYEES, staff, and the administration came together virtually to hold Regalo: Online Benefit Concert yesterday, November 24, as part of the Quadricentennial celebration to support the communities affected by Typhoons Rolly and Ulysses.
“Instead of pushing through its pre-planned activities, Letran wanted to give back and help those affected by Typhoons Rolly and Ulysses,” said Mr. Inaki Pelonio from the Alumni and Public Relations Department (APRD).
The benefit concert is one of Tulong Letranista Day’s highlight events, which aims to bring entertainment to the online Letran Community, and at the same time, raise funds and accept donations to help the communities in need due to the recent calamities.
Numerous local artists performed at the virtual concert, including Jason Fernandez, This Band, Mayonnaise, and several others. Furthermore, students, alumni, employees, and faculty were also featured in the online concert, extending the Bayanihan spirit through music and arts.
The performances were headed by the APRD’s Directress, Ms. Jhennie Villar. Meanwhile, the Community Extension Department (CED), led by Assistant Professor Leo Bernadas, managed all donations to send to the institution’s partner communities.
“Letran had always wanted its family to be one with each other. And even with the pandemic, the Colegio made it a point to celebrate its 400th anniversary in its own special and safe way,”
“The benefit concert is perhaps, the best way the Letran community can come together during the pandemic. And it really did show. This was made possible by everyone—from students to third-party employees. Everyone chipped in and made their contribution.”
Regalo: Online Benefit Concert is part of Ayuda Letran, a long-running donation drive initiated by the institution to support partner communities in need, such as Taal Eruption victims in January, giving help to several communities during the Luzon-wide lockdown, and recently, victims of typhoons.
