The Library Services Department of Colegio de San Juan de Letran-Manila exhibited the 2024 National Book Week with the theme, “Magbasa. Mangarap. Magdiwang.” Encouraging Letran students and faculty to celebrate the importance of books in fostering imagination, knowledge, and community.
On Friday, November 8, 2024, students at Colegio de San Juan de Letran-Manila were greeted by a hello from one of the Philippines’ most beloved blockbuster filmmakers, Direk Cathy Garcia-Sampana.
In line with the annual National Mental Health Week, the Guidance, Counseling, Testing, and Placement Department (GCTAP) alongside the Letran Psychology Society (LPS) spearheaded Socio-Emotional and Mental Health Celebration 2024, titled “Embracing Wellness: Moving Towards Sustainable Mental Health Practices,” at Colegio de San Juan de Letran-Manila with the objective to advance advocacies and raise awareness on mental well-being among Letranites. The event was originally planned to take place onsite from October 21-26. Unfortunately, due to inclement weather brought by Typhoon Kristine, the schedule of events had to be readjusted from the 23rd onward in accordance with class suspensions. Despite these disruptions, the projects resumed the following week, highlighting the unwavering dedication of the students, faculty, staff, and organizations involved in promoting their causes.
On Monday, October 28, the Institute of Communication (ICOMM) at Colegio de San Juan de Letran - Manila celebrated a remarkable showcase of creativity and talent. Their entries “shining, shimmering, ...splendid?” and “Our Mother” earned spots in the Top 10 Finalists of the Sine-KaLIKHAsan Film Competition, showcasing students’ innovative storytelling abilities. Additionally, the project “A Hit is Not A Gambit” garnered the esteemed Best Student Public Service TV Ad award at the 46th Catholic Mass Media Awards. These accolades reflect the Institute’s commitment to excellence, highlighting the transformative power of media in driving social change and inspiring social responsibility.
The event entitled “Shaping Tomorrow: Ethical AI and the Transformation of Business Operations" is a seminar held at the SC Auditorium of Colegio de San Juan de Letran-Manila about Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the Philippines organized by Kristine Borromeo, hosted by Letran Graduate School in cooperation with GradSem Course Batch 2024 and The Manila Times last Saturday, October 26, 2024. The event addresses how much innovation is taking over different industries, and how we should adapt to the inevitable circumstance in order to conquer being overshadowed by its capability to replace us in the field.
The Sinag Maynila Independent Film Festival 2024 took place at Colegio de San Juan de Letran in celebration of Manila City’s Tourism Month last Friday, October 18, 2024, at the SC Auditorium. “Ma’ Rosa” (2016), a film highlighting the story of a mother involved in drug dealing and the crooked justice system in the Philippines, was featured at the event. Its director, Brillante Mendoza, was also present for the open question session.

People from all walks of life celebrated the feast of Nuestra Señora del Santissimo Rosario de La Naval de Manila on October 13, 2024. A great number of devotees and institutions attended the mass and procession to celebrate the feast of La Naval de Manila held at the Sto. Domingo Church in Quezon City. The annual tradition is celebrated every second Sunday of October with a series of masses and a grand procession of the image of Our Lady of The Most Holy Rosary of La Naval, in honor of the Virgin Mary.
On September 14, 2024, Colegio de San Juan de Letran marked a historic milestone with the Topping-Off Ceremony of its Quadricentennial Building.
Last September 3, the 5th Singapore International Dance Competition (SIDC) began its 3-day event at the National University of Singapore Cultural Center Theatre which opened its doors for the world to bring the passion of dancing on its stage. The Letran Unknighted Dance Company (UDC) dared to join with a leap of faith and successfully brought home glory with a title of 1st Prize in three categories: Hip Hop Duo, Hip Hop Group, and Demi-Character Trio.
