PH, Australia partners against transnational crimes

The Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Australian government strengthened its partnership in battling transnational crimes  such as child exploitation, cybercrimes, and terrorism.

Australian Ambassador Marc Innes-Brown led the delegation that paid a courtesy call on acting PNP chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. at the Office of the Chief PNP (OCPNP) Lounge,Camp Crame on Oct. 23.

Bernard Yang, Acting Director of the Anti-Cybercrime Group; Brig. Gen. Cresenciano Landicho, Officer-in-Charge of the Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management; Brig. Gen. Maria Sheila Portento, Chief of the Women and Children Protection Center; and Col. Roger Bilibli, Chief of the Foreign Liaison Division.

Nartatez Jr. said both parties discussed steps to discuss ongoing efforts and new strategies on enhancing coordination and intelligence sharing between the PNP and the Australian Federal Police (AFP).

“We discussed ways to enhance our partnership in combating child exploitation, cybercrime, terrorism, and organized criminal activities,” Nartatez Jr. said.

“Both the PNP and the Australian Federal Police recognize the importance of intelligence sharing, capacity building and technology-driven solutions to strengthen our joint operations,” he said.

He also lauded the Australian government for its continuous support for PNP programs in improving technical and investigative capabilities, especially in addressing cybercrime and child exploitation cases and in its commitment to order and stability in the region under one shared mission.

“Our partnership with Australian law enforcement, particularly the Australian Federal Police, remains very strong and productive,” he said. “Through this collaboration, we are not only protecting Filipinos but also contributing to regional peace and security.”

The PNP Chief reaffirmed the commitment of both countries to its long-standing friendship and its mission to battle transnational crimes and maintain law and order within the Asia-Pacific Region.

“The PNP stands ready and committed to collaborating with our international counterparts in addressing transnational threats. Together, we fight for peace, security, and justice—not only in the Philippines, but across the region,” Nartatez Jr. said.
