LSCE 2025 concludes with extended filing and two-day poll for A.Y. 2025-2026 student council

The Letran Commission on Elections (COMELEC) facilitated the Letran Student Council Elections (LSCE) 2025, following a structured timeline that included an extension in the candidacy filing period due to an initial lack of applicants. The electoral process began in mid February and concluded with the proclamation of winners on Apr. 3, 2025.

 

LSCE 2025: A comprehensive timeline of the election season leading to the new student council

FEBRUARY 17, 2025

The electoral process officially began with the opening of the filing period for Certificates of Candidacy (COC) from Feb. 17 to Mar. 7. To ensure transparency and awareness among the student body, an online college-wide orientation was held on Feb. 21 to provide details about the electoral procedures.

 

MARCH 7-9, 2025

The screening of COCs occurred from Mar. 7 to 9. During this stage, COMELEC noted a lack of applicants and released a Resolution No. 001 s.2025, extending the filing period from Mar. 8 to 12.

 

MARCH 17, 2025

On its official Facebook page, the Letran COMELEC released the official list of candidates.  Running for the executive positions are Jed Federico Acosta for president, Rinoa Leigh Ann Lamadrid for vice president, and Janhilly Ahljer Reserva for public relations officer. 

While the senatorial positions were filled by Juliana Lida Fae Yecyec for Education, Julian Rainier Blancaflor for Information Technology, Risse Jermaine Barroga for Accountancy, Kirk Nathan Arroyo for Political Science, Arreann Fhenelope Prim for Legal Management, and Nickolet Mae Duran for Psychology program.

 

MARCH 24-28, 2025

The campaign period began on Mar. 24 and ran through Mar. 28, allowing candidates to engage with the student body both online and onsite to present their platforms and initiatives.

 

MARCH 31 - APRIL 1, 2025

Miting de Avance was held on Mar. 31 at 9:30 AM at the SC Auditorium. Each candidate is given 1 minute to introduce themselves and discuss their platform. Guest panelists including Mr. Emil Carreon and Ms. Catherine Sanchez and a student panelist from the College of Education were present for the question and answer portion.

On the same day, the Letran Commission on Elections (COMELEC) discussed the process on how the students can vote and posted it on their Facebook page afterwards.

 

APRIL 2-3, 2025

The first day of onsite voting for LSCE 2025 is scheduled on Apr. 2 with Del Pilar Hall and Mabini Hall as the assigned precincts, the first day concluded with a 35% voter turnout or 775 total votes. 

Meanwhile on the second day, the Letran COMELEC released the Resolution No. 002 s.2025 which provided an access link for students to be able to vote even if they are not present onsite and concluded the last day with 1,313 turnout in contrast to the 2,193 total collegiate population.

 

APRIL 3, 2025

LSCE 2025 officially ended on Apr. 3 culminating with the proclamation of winning candidates at 5 PM at the Del Pillar Hall organized by the Letran Commission on Elections.

For a candidate to win, it is stated on the Letran COMELEC’s election code that they must secure a 50% + 1 vote to be declared as victors.

The COMELEC proclaimed the three winning candidates for Executive Committee with Jed Federico Acosta as President with 910 votes (69.68%), Rinoa Leigh Ann Lamadrid as Vice President with 889 votes (68.07%) and Janhilly Ahljer Reserva as the Public Relations Officer with 754 votes (57.73%).

For the program senators, there are only four winning candidates out of six that includes Risse Jermaine Barroga for Accountancy senator with 77 votes (56.20%), Juliana Lida Fae Yecyec for Education senator with 16 votes (72.73%), Julian Rainier Blancaflor for Information Technology senator with 110 votes (61.80%) and lastly, Nickolet Mae Duran for Psychology senator with 123 votes (73.21%).
