The Letran Knights relegated the Arellano Chiefs from the NCAA Season 99 Step-Ladder Semis, 18-25, 25-23, 25-23, 25-22, at the FilOil EcoOil Centre this afternoon.

Crowned as the second-best players in their position, Vince Himzon laced 20 points off of Wayne Araño’s 18 excellent sets, connecting on an array of attacks to dismantle the Chiefs’ steady defense.

The enduring bout bolstered explosive attacks from both teams, not allowing their counterparts to pull away with easy sets. This was the case throughout the first two frames until Vince Himzon unleashed point-blank attacks from the middle to reclaim the second set, 25-23.

Midway through the fourth set, Bembem Bautista’s unwavering spirit energized his squad while aiming to stretch the gap against the Chiefs. Officials recognized his in-game antics and immediately penalized him with a red card. However, this did not stall the Knights as they continued to romp their opponents, 15-11.

Eager to pace ahead in the semis, Bembem quickly sneaked behind Caballero to strike a well-orchestrated play, staggering the Chief’s defense to bag the match at 25-22.

Arellano’s Carl Justin Berdal delivered a game-high 25 points, two aces, and a single rejection as they head back in Legarda, officially ending their season 99 run.

The Intramuros-based squad will once again top the semis action as they will face the Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals alongside the Lady Knights on Wednesday, May 15, at the same venue.
