The Letran Singing Ambassadors (LSA) performed victoriously at the 50th National Competitions for Young Artists (NAMCYA) Gintong Pamana (Golden Legacy) - Semi-Finals competition held at the Philippine Women’s University (PWU) Conrado Benitez Hall, Malate Manila, September 30, 2023.

LSA Trainee and Treasurer Julieanna Marie Soliman shared how their daily rehearsals until 10 PM and passion for their craft led to their success at the prestigious singing competition.

“We keep on reminding each other about our goals for the whole choir, kung ano ba yung reasons why we are competing which is our love and passion for music for us to keep on being motivated lang all throughout our journey dito sa NAMCYA.”

Their winning performance at the NAMCYA’s semi-finals round included their rendition of two songs namely "Cast Thy Burden Upon the Lord" and "Hela Rotan". Soliman explained how the selected songs gave significance to their musical presentation, leaning towards faith and teamwork with one harmonious voice as a choir.

“Our 1st song is about casting all our burden to the Lord. Just like this competition, we lift up everything to the Lord, all the burdens that we have in our lives and siya na bahala. He will sustain us after all,” Soliman said.

"On the other hand, Hela rotan, is folk song na if itranslate natin, "pull the rattan" ang meaning. It means that when we are competing, especially if we are a group, being together is a way for us to succeed. This applies din sa pagiging choir, just like what our conductor always tells us, we need synergy as a choir to produce a quality sound,” Soliman added.

Guided by their Musical Director, Anthony Go Villanueva, LSA aims to continue their historical mark as they sing their hearts out for the title “NAMCYA 2023 Champion” on the upcoming finals competition at the Metropolitan Theater on November 21 to 26, 2023

Receiving the same award as qualifiers for the Senior Choir category – NCR cluster with LSA are its contenders: Rizal Technological University Himig Rizalia, and De La Salle University Chorale.
