Lady Knights faced defeat against Lady Blazers in the Shakey's Super League Pre-Season Championship match, 25-20, 14-25, 18-25, 22-25 earlier today at FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.
Within the first set, Lady Knights' Gia Maquilang, together with Lea Tapang, led the way for their respective team to dominate the floor.
Despite both teams committing errors alternately throughout, Lady Knights' Ledesma gave a service ace to boost the momentum at hand.
To conclude the set, Lady Knights' Daisy Melendres secured a powerful spike that left the Lady Blazers stoned at their positions, 25-20.
Within the 2nd and 3rd sets, the Lady Blazers' regrouped and redeemed their name as Gayle Pascual, along with Zamantha Nolasco, made way to accumulate points to widen the gap.
Both sets went to the favor of the Lady Blazers through their sketch out attack and block strategy, with the bonus of having good communication inside the court.
As the 4th set had started, the Lady Knights took chances to bounce back as they regained their gameplay after a 2-set loss, to keep up with the opponents' competence.
With the Lady Blazers' strength of attack, Tapang and Melendres surely secured their block strategy to be firm and still.
Once again, Lady Knights' Maquilang showcased her skill and potential inside the court as she effortlessly attacked the ball straight into the open areas of the opponent, tied at 20.
In spite of Maquilang's performance, Corrine Apostol and Jade Gentapa of Lady Blazers' led and answered back by ending the whole match, not wanting another set, 22-25.
Letran's next match is against the University of Perpetual Help on September 25 at 5 p.m. and will be held at the same venue.
