From the walls of Intramuros to a bigger stage, five former Letran Knights are set to embark on greater heights as they get selected in PBA Gatorade Season 48 Rookie Draft earlier today at Market! Market! in Taguig City.
Olongapo-born Power Forward Louie Sangalang was chosen by Terrafirma Dyip as the 22nd pick, the first one to be drafted among the five Knights.
Alongside Sangalang in Terrafirma is 5’9” Guard Tommy Olivario, who has won four championships during his stay with Letran. The two are expected to bolster the current roster of Dyip with former Letran standouts JP Calvo, Bonbon Batiller and Allen Mina.
6-foot-2 swingman Brent Paraiso has found a new home as he heads to Northport Batang Pier as the 29th overall pick in the draft.
Joining Paraiso in Northport is prized playmaker Fran Yu as the 5th pick of the 4th round, giving them a dynamic backcourt duo who can space the floor and create shots for the team.
Paraiso and Yu are set to reunite under the system of their former Knights' head coach Bonnie Tan and are also set to play with Letran alumna Christian Balingasay.
NCAA Season 98's mythical five player and Finals MVP King Caralipio was drafted 43rd overall as he was chosen by the Converge FiberXers. The 6’2” Guard will be joining former Letran skipper Jeo Ambohot in the Aldin Ayo-led squad.
The PBA Commissioner’s Cup is set to begin on November 5.
