The Letran Knights were not able to bounce back to their Sanzar Pharmaceuticals loss last Monday as they faltered against the FEU Tamaraws, eking out a 74-84 heartbreaker in the AsiaBasket Las Piñas leg yesterday at Villar Coliseum in Las Pinas City.

With this loss, the Intramuros-based squad are now holding a 2-2 standing in the Group B of the league.

Skipper Kurt Reyson led the way for Letran with 20 points, nine assists and four steals together with Kevin Santos made a defensive play with 19 points and three assists.

Pao Javillonar also chipped in 14 points and one assist in the losing effort.

The Knights tried to close the gap but FEU relied to Cholo Anonuevo and Royce Alforque in the endgame to diminish Letran’s winning hopes in the match.

The momentum sided with FEU in the first half as the Knights struggled to put up points on the board, but made it to pitch as they tried to run after as they made sure to trail by a slim  36-39 cushion.

Anonuevo paced the Tamaraws with 14 points on top of four rebounds, two assists and two steals off the bench, with the help of Xyrus Torres who contributed 13 markers, five boards and two assists.

Letran will try to recover from their back-to-back defeats as they will face Corsa Tires for Quarter Finals on July 27, 7pm still at the same venue.
