The Letran Knights garnered its second loss of the season at the hands of the Adamson University Falcons, 83-80, in the Filoil Flying V Preseason Cup powered by Chooks-to-Go on Tuesday, at the Filoil Flying V Centre.

With 7.5 seconds remaining in the game, Adamson’s Sean Manganti splits his free throws to give the Falcons a three-point cushion, 83-80. The Knights had their chance to even the score.

However, JP Calvo failed to convert a game-tying trey that would have sent the game to overtime.

Sean Manganti paced the Falcons after scoring 20 points on 80 percent shooting from beyond the arc. Papi Sarr added 13 points and eight boards while Jerrick Ahanmisi added nine points.

Bong Quinto scored 24 points and grabbed 11 boards for the Knights. JP Calvo added 17, while Jerrick Balanza and Jeo Ambohot had 12 apiece.

With the Knights going toe-to-toe against a UAAP powerhouse, head coach Jeff Napa remained positive despite their loss against the Falcons.

“’Yung mistakes naming ngayon ‘yun ‘yung kailangan naming i-correct para coming to the season maganda na ‘yung performance namin. Adamson’s a very strong team talaga so atleast nakita naming kung ano ‘yung kakayahan namin,” he bared.

The Knights missed the services of Christian Fajarito who is currently nursing a minor injury.

Letran will look to reclaim themselves, as they will be facing the Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers on May 25, Friday, at 2:15 p.m.
