Larry Muyang and Christian Fajarito powered the Letran Knights to their second win after beating the LPU Pirates, 78-74, in the Filoil Flying V Preseason Cup, Tuesday, at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan City.

JP Calvo iced the game as he converted a lay-up in the 1:18 mark of the final frame to give Letran a comfortable 6-point cushion. However, it was Letran’s twin towers Muyang and Fajarito who lifted the Knights during their lousy start.

“Medyo masama ‘yung panalo namin, talagang hindi ‘yun ‘yung laro na gusto naming mangyari.” Knights head coach Jeff Napa bared.

“Luckily, ‘yung character ng team, especially the leaders, Bong Quinto really stepped up to push ‘yung mga newly-ones,” he added.

Muyang paced Letran with 20 points and 14 rebounds. Bong Quinto scored 17 points and 10 rebounds while Christian Fajarito notched 10 points and 13 boards. Gilas Cadet Jeo Ambohot added nine points and nine boards for Letran. The four combined for 46 of Letran’s 62 rebounds.

Yancy Remulla scored 18 points while Ralph Tansingco added 11 points and eight boards.

The Knights will face the Adamson University Falcons, on May 8, Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
