The Letran Knights were dejected after their win streak was cut with a loss against the Sanzar Pharmaceuticals, 80-82 in the AsiaBasket Las Piñas leg held yesterday at Villar Coliseum in Las Pinas City.
In the first half, the Letran Knights made their way to dominate both quarters with their speed and thorough offense despite the Sanzar Pharmaceuticals' heightened defense, 48-45.
Sanzar Pharmaceuticals' Adeshokan Odou made every possible effort to weaken the Knights' offense, closing the score gap.
Despite Odou's vested interests in having his respected team lead, the Letran Knights still gained possession of the ball inside the court.
Another player on the Pharmaceuticals' side, Yukihiro Kawamura, as he was swarmed by both team players, took the opportunity to make a 2-point jump shot and gained more points afterwards.
Throughout the 4th Quarter, tension rose between the Letran Knights and Odou, which ended with Javillonar, Tolentino, along with Odou each receiving a technical foul.
Due to an intense fight, the Knights' lost their composure, which was a huge setback on their part, and Sanzar Pharmaceutical claimed the lead.
As the quarter was nearing its end, Kurt Reyson made a 3-point jump shot, but it was not good enough as Odou gained after a 2-point free throw, ending the game in favor of Sanzar Pharmaceuticals with two points, 80-82.
Adeshokan Odou gained 23 points, 11 rebounds, and two assists, while Kurt Reyson possessed 24 points, three rebounds, and five assists.
Another match will be held as the Letran Knights will face off against the FEU Tamaraws on July 26, 7PM at the same venue.
