Colegio de San Juan de Letran improved to 4-1 in the FilOil EcoOil 16th Preseason Cup, with a big win against San Beda University, 72-64 earlier today in San Juan City.
It was a close fight between the archrivals even as the Knights struggled to put up points on the board, and were down 54-56 at the end of third quarter. Behind Letran star Kurt Reyson, they went on a 13-2 run to take away the lead 67-58 with three minutes left.
The fourth-year guard was the Best Player of the Game and led the team with 20 points, eight assists, two steals. Deo Cuajao also contributed for the Knights with 15 points and two rebounds while Kobe Monje provided 12 points.
“Sinabi ko sa team na kailangan manalo tayo para bigyang saya mga coaches natin” Reyson said after their first win against San Beda which had defeated them in 2023 PBA-D League Aspirants Cup last week.
Coach Rensy Bajar agreed with Reyson especially since the Red Lions swept Letran in the last NCAA season, “Sinabi ko sakanila kung gusto natin manalo sa game, kailangan mag step up tayo sa defense which is ayun talaga yung identity namin, depensa talaga yung nagpapanalo sa amin” he added.
