Letran outlasts JRU, gets second win in FilOil Preseason Cup Colegio de San Juan de Letran earned a 79-68 win against Jose Rizal University in their bout earlier today at the FilOil EcoOil 16 Preseason Cup in San Juan City.
The game swung back and forth through the earlier stages of the contest seeing the two teams exchange buckets. Rensy Bajar's group jumped to a small lead to close out the first, 21-16.
JRU fought to reclaim the advantage in the second frame as they pounced on the sloppy transition defense of Letran while they handled their own on the other end to earn a comfortable seven-point gap as they headed to the dugouts, 45-38.
Both squads refused to give way as the fourth proved to be the decider of the game where veteran guard Kurt Reyson took over as he scored 15 points capped off back-to-back three-pointers that sealed the win, 79-68.
Reyson led both teams with 21 points, five assists, and four rebounds off the bench, followed by Kobe Monje’s 14 markers. Rafael Go, Pao Javillonar, and Nicko Fajardo each had eight.
Shawn Argente spearheaded JRU with a 19-point, five-assist game, while Mart James Barrera and Theo Pabico contributed 11 and 10, respectively.
