Letran-Manila unveils the National Heritage Marker - that recognizes the buildings of the institution on the facade of the Colegio on Friday morning, March 31, 2023.
Government personnel, alumni, administrators, students, and faculty of Letran - Manila witnessed the unveiling of the plaque, with President and Rector Rev. Fr. Clarence Marquez, OP, spearheading the event.
The Colegio also held an event at the St. Thomas Hall, which was in line with the unveiling of the plaque and celebrating the end of Women's Month. The program had the theme of “The Rule of Women in the Preservation of Cultural Heritage and Property”.
Administrator Atty. Joan Padilla of Intramuros Administration stated the declaration of the Colegio as an important cultural treasure is another milestone for the institution. She also called for reflection and continuous honor of the Colegio’s legacy as it contributed to the identities of the Filipinos.
“It is a privilege in the Intramuros Administration to safeguard these legacies and our duty to highlight their significance in our collective memory. As we work towards preserving our cultural heritage,” Atty. Padilla added.
She also says women played a role in preserving the cultural heritage of the country as they are seen as protectors and nurturers of cultures around the world.
