After 31 huge points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 6 triples, a clutch trey that sent the game to overtime, and the eventual dub, 3rd-year guard Kurt Reyson didn’t forget whom they were dedicating this game for, Colegio de San Juan de Letran’s former elementary and junior high school Chaplain Rev. Fr. Rafael Quejada, OP.

“Namatayan kami ng Father eh, si Father Raffy, sa isip ko sana makuha namin ‘tong panalo para i-dedicate namin ‘to kay Father Raffy.” Reyson shares during the post game presser. ” Para sa kaniya ‘tong panalo na ‘to”, the best player of the game adds.

On the other hand, Kurt and the whole team acknowledge that there are still a lot of adjustments that need to be made in order for them to be successful in their bid for three-peat. “Ang daming nawala sa aming mga scorer. Tutulungan namin yung team, kumbaga uunahan namin sa depensa. Outdefensed kami kanina eh. Yung opensa namin darating naman. Biniyayaan kami sa opensa, binigay sa amin yung panalo”.

Reyson was suffering from cramps during the final minutes of the fourth quarter, but that did not stop him from hitting the game-saving trey which allowed Letran to force overtime and eventually win the game after starting it slowly. “Nabigla lang rin kasi lahat eh, press team yung kalaban namin. Nagulat kami nung first half, tapos nag-adjust kami sa sistema na ginawa nila saamin.”, commenting on their performance on the first half. But when the opportunity came, he had no doubts about taking the shot of the game. “Nagulat na lang ako nakuha ko ‘yung bola, wala na akong dalawang isip titira ko na talaga. Ayun, nabiyayaan naman na shoot naman.”

Letran’s next game would be against the Arellano University Chiefs on Sunday, September 18, 2022, at the FilOil EcoOil in San Juan.
