THE Letran Student Council (A.Y. 2020-2021) presents TamBike-An in Colegio de San Juan de Letran Manila, a project that was launched last November 19 2021 by the LSC. It symbolizes the “New Beginning” for the Letranites as face-to-face classes are expected to resume sometime next year.
"It's a physical legacy that our council from last academic year will leave”, stated by LSC Chief of Staff and former President Johnquil Mitch Costales.
The TamBike-An is inspired by the Market! Market! Makati Bike Racks and Dining area. It was an idea proposed by the LSC to create a safe place for bikers and non-bikers to gather and relax outdoors. The inspiration also came from the limited face-to-face classes being discussed by CHED.
Even without face-to-face classes, Letranites can benefit from this project. Once face-to-face classes return, students will also have a place to conduct group meetings, do schoolwork, etc.
TamBike-An also promotes physical health care as it encourages students to ride their bikes to school. The project isn’t only for students, but also for professors, administrators, employees, visitors, and other personnel of the school.
Costales explained that their project has been carefully planned since July 2021 along with the coordination of the Engineering Department., Auxiliary Services Department, and Division of Student Affairs. He considers their project a success as the entire project took 5 months to complete.
“That infrastructure represented our hard work for the last academic year, and it’s something that we could look back to when we leave Letran,” Costales added. The Tambike-an can be found in front of the St. Vincent Ferrer Building where it comprises 10 Bike Parking lots, and table tops where Letranites can have their meals or even reconnect with one another.
Health protocols with regards to the Colegio will also be implemented with the TamBike-An.
